Remember how cheerful everyone was back in December? The holidays were here. Magic was in the air. Everyone was smiling and holding doors open for strangers. I write a post every year in December about getting in front of those “hard-to-reach” customers and prospects during the holidays. Even though it’s a hectic time, people tend to be more open to taking appointments – they’re just in a better mood.
Well, for the first time in four months, people are cheerful again. The fourth Friday of April is full of magic throughout the Northern Hemisphere – the winter is behind us, the sun is shining, it’s not hot and humid yet, there is a breeze in the air, and its Friday. What a day!
The fourth Friday of April is also an amazing day to get in front of that challenging customer. You know the one – always in a foul mood, acts like they’re too busy for anyone, and has a large hairy wart on their nose. Yeah, that customer. Go see him or her today. Just like December, everyone is in a happier mood today – including the nasty ones. Maybe they won’t open up their afternoon to you and start issuing purchase orders, but they’ll be more likely to schedule time with you – unlike the dozens of other times you’ve called on them.
Try it with just one and see what happens. Now, I’ve got to go figure out how I’m going to make some of these calls knowing that these challenging prospects of mine might have read this post.
