Did you enjoy the summer?  Relaxing?  Fun?  Are you refreshed?  I hope so because you’ve got 11 intense weeks of selling in front of you.  Between now and November 18th, your customer facing activity should be nonstop.  After Thanksgiving, well … you know how that goes.  Some people will be around and others won’t, and they’ll all blame the holidays for their lack of progress.

Along the way, you’ll have distractions and anxiety about those snowball tasks like reports, keeping your desk clean, etc.  Ignore everything that won’t get you fired… for now.  Which brings us to our Idea for this Tuesday…

Plan two full days to catch up on “office stuff”, after November 18th.

If you’re doing expense reports on October 25th and trying to schedule appointments the day before Thanksgiving, you’re in the wrong business.  If you’re working the week of Thanksgiving, block off two full days to catch up on “office stuff” – emails, desk organizing, 2017 benefits paperwork, etc.  No one is going to take your calls on those days anyway.

One obvious benefit is that you’ll get your task work done during those days, but the real value of this technique comes from the freedom you’ll have the rest of the time.  You’ll stay focused on your customers and prospects during the next 11 weeks, knowing that you’ll have two entire days set aside to read those brilliant articles that you keep meaning to get to.

One last note – keep reading this blog every day!  Its 60 seconds and I try to keep it focused on your sales success.  If you hold off on anything, skip Thursday’s personal posts.
