As I wrote on Monday, I rarely meet a successful sales person that isn’t maxing out their schedule and has time to do anything besides make their number for the month / quarter / year. So, how can we find time to continually sharpen our skills? On Monday I shared the first of three ideas that I’ll reveal this week. Today and Friday I will share ideas #2 and #3, respectively. Well, today is Wednesday, so here is Idea #2…
Block off the same time every week and just do it. Whether you’re going to read books on selling, catch up on your industry trade magazines, or practice your presentation skills, schedule two hours per week, every week, and just do it. I know, I know – something always comes up. However, not much comes up between 6:00 and 8:00 on Tuesday mornings; or on Friday afternoons between 4:00 and 6:00. Pick an ideal time when you won’t be interrupted and your energy level is usually the highest, and don’t let anything get in the way. BTW, all you need is two hours per week … that’s it.
