One of the biggest factors leading to inefficiency is discouragement. When we’re not motivated, we’re not efficient. So, one of the best ways to improve your productivity is to stay motivated, which brings us to Strategy #2…
Strategy #2 to becoming a more productive sales person: Listen to or read something motivational every morning.
When I wake up, I put on my workout clothes and exercise. On off days, I walk the dog. Immediately after tying my shoes every single morning, I put in my headphones and start listening to a motivational book on audible.com. I usually don’t learn anything. Many times I hear stories that I’ve heard before. Sometimes I listen to books that I’ve read or listened to before. I don’t care … their only purpose at 5:40 am is to motivate me. I don’t care if I retain any new ideas. I just want to use these initial minutes of the day to get motivated and point the day in the right direction. When that happens, everything else seems to fall into place.
Go find that Zig Ziglar book or the old Tony Robbins tape and give it a whirl again. Subscribe to podcasts that are full of positive or motivational stories. Don’t get caught up in the academics – if you feel more energetic and positive, then its working!
What do you think? Corny? Maybe, but try it anyway.
