Idea Tuesday:  Increase your chances of achieving your 2016 sales goals with this one idea.

You’re probably in the process setting your 2016 sales goals.  Think back to last year at this time.  Go ahead, take a few seconds and think back to November of 2014.  Remember how confident you were in the goals you set?  Nothing was going to get in your way.  2015 was going to be the best year you’ve ever had.  Well, how are you doing? 

If you’re like most of us, you got derailed along the way.  You had a perfect strategy, but something happened in March or July or last week, and now you might find yourself behind on some of your goals.  What can you do to make sure this doesn’t happen next year?  One thing I can guarantee: you can’t avoid obstacles getting in the way of your plan.  However, you can plan for them.

The idea for this Tuesday is to list up to five potential obstacles that can get in the way of achieving your goals.  Don’t do this for each goal.  Establish your goals and then create potential obstacles for the entire list of goals.  You’ll be amazed how prepared you’ll be when that “out of nowhere” event happens.

I know, I haven’t seen your fail-proof plan.  How could anything possibly go wrong?  (BTW, I have this same conversation with myself every year.)  I promise – many things will go wrong; but if you’re prepared, you’ll have a much better chance of staying in the game.  Mike Tyson said it best: “Everyone’s got a strategy until they get punched in the face.”
