As system integrators, you know how fast and rapid technology can change. While technology is a blessing to keep us busy with services that meet new demands, it can also be a curse in the form of confusion, misinformation and inaction on the side of the end user. Facility managers & security directors are often too busy to keep up with the latest and greatest technology.

A Lunch and Learn is the perfect opportunity to educate prospects and customers of new technologies and how they work in an informal environment. This can have a major impact on influencing the buying decision.

Just like the name sounds, a Lunch and Learn is an informal meeting that happens over lunch, where your attendees undergo training on topics you deliver. Training topics can include new product demos, service overviews, use cases, maintenance contract reviews, or anything else that would benefit your customer and their understanding of how something works. During this session you can provide a catered lunch, or you can advertise it where attendees can bring their own.

Lunch and Learn sessions provide important training without interrupting your attendees’ workday. They provide an open, relaxed learning environment that positions you as the subject matter expert. They also convey your commitment to education, which goes a long way in helping close the modern day sale.

Your prospects and customers will benefit greatly by attending your Lunch and Learn sessions.

However, there are a few things you must be aware of to ensure that the sessions are successful.

  1. End on time. Make sure these sessions do not run over the scheduled time—if you schedule one hour for Lunch and Learn, set your alarm for 55 minutes to wrap up questions.

  2. Avoid distractions. Hold the session in a quiet conference room so attendees can focus during the entire session.

  3. Create action items. Attendees are there to learn about new technology, or a service you provide so be sure to have a follow up plan in place. Provide them with some reference material that showcases how the new technology (Product or Service) can be applied in their world and provide information on Next Steps to connect them with a member of your sales team
  • Now is the perfect time to start planning your first Lunch and Learn of the year. Gather your team together and start game planning. Choose a topic, gather your list of attendees, create your training session, follow-up materials and set the date.
