Part 1: Introduction to Local SEO
When you and your family want to decide on a restaurant for dinner or a hotel to stay in while on vacation, you lean on search engines to guide you through the millions of businesses on the internet.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the term used to identify the processes and procedures for creating content and web page design that drives prospects to your online content residing on your website and blog.
Local SEO refers to content optimization that drives local prospects to regional businesses, in this case, your systems integration business.
Without localization, you could be attracting prospects that are well outside of your service area. Attracting customers from outside of your region will happen organically, however you certainly don’t want to be spending time and money cultivating leads from too far away.
Developing Local SEO optimization involves developing geographically identifiable content that benefits prospects within your service region. For example, when creating a “site survey” resource, it’s important to title the resource and include text and images related to your region.
A general title could be “Site Survey for Security Cameras” whereas a localized title may read “Security Camera Site Survey for Businesses in Central Florida.” Additionally, the blog post and document text should be geared towards challenges in this region, with text references unique to the region to include state and city names.
Focusing on Local SEO over nationwide SEO allows you to spend your online advertising and marketing budget specifically within your service area. According to a recent report, nearly 35% of all search is for local businesses.
