Some of the most poisonous conversations I’ve been part of have been amongst struggling sales people at lunch.  “These goals are unrealistic.”  “No one is spending money this time of year.” “What do they expect? If they gave us something to demo we could sell much more.” 

Stay away from these people. Selling is a craft that requires as much emotional strength as it does professional skills or reputation.  The arguments listed above might be valid, but who cares?  Bad sales people usually have valid arguments, but unless you’re a Personal Injury attorney you aren’t making any commission on winning arguments.  Find the sales professionals who are overcoming the odds with a positive attitude and buy their lunches – every day if necessary.
